EducationWorks Response to COVID-19
Now more than ever, EducationWorks is committed to the health, well-being, and safety of our employees, young people, and their families across the Greater Philadelphia region. Our staff has teamed up with partners and sponsors from across the region to provide the following resources and programming to our students and our community during this time. The below information will be updated regularly.
The administrative offices of EducationWorks, located at 990 Spring Garden Street, Suite 601, closed on March 13th and will remain closed until all government restrictions are lifted. Our staff however are working remotely to ensure that daily operations continue.
PowerCorps PHL remains operational, with modifications that follow precautionary safety guidelines from the City of Philadelphia and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Our cohort members are engaging in online training and certification programs.
Out-of-School Time (OST)
OST remains committed to providing our children and youth with high-quality OST programming for the foreseeable future. In order to prepare for what will be a new learning environment, our OST staff have participated in online trainings and professional development leading to certifications in social emotional learning and more. We will begin the roll-out of online programming for our students including homework help, Storytime with EducationWorks every Wednesday at 3pm on Facebook and Instagram Live, and online STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) in conjunction with our partners like the Franklin Institute, etc.
ELECT continues to provide case management services to students via phone conferences and online workshops/seminars. Case managers serve as assuring presence for expectant and new parents, while providing information related to resources for young parents. ELECT will make modifications as required by its external guiding agencies (SDP).
EW’s Virtual Programming Goes Live on Monday April 27, 2020 at 3:00 pm. All EW Afterschool families will be receiving an email invitation to our virtual platform, ClassDojo.
Programming that was hosted on our YouTube channel has been temporarily removed and will be relocated to another platform. Please check back for additional updates.
Monday’s are all things S.T.E.A.M! To kick-off our virtual activities, our partners from the Franklin Institute will host: Science Show Live – Weather!
Join us for a virtual adaptation of a Franklin Institute Travel Science Shows, scaled down from an assembly format in order to fit onto your computer screen. A science educator from The Franklin Institute will interactively engage with the audience and present exciting experiments and demonstrations from their own home.
