Recognizing that each child has unique needs, staff works directly with school and community leaders to design in-school programming to address school needs in one or more of the following areas: socialized recess, restorative action centers (formerly in-school suspension) – accommodations for disruptive behavior (in and out of the classroom), math and literacy tutoring, and library support.
K-12 Out-of-School Time operates in Philadelphia and Camden district and private schools for children in grades K-12 daily from 3:00 -6:00pm and on all half days. Our offerings include Project-Based Learning structured activities in the following: STEAM, art and music programs, literacy activities, structured recreation and cooperative games.

Back to menuSummer Programs are provided to more than 1,000 youth in Philadelphia and Camden in grades K-8 and workforce development/career readiness training for young people in grades 9-12. For less than $5 per day, campers receive six weeks of academic enrichment and recreational programming and our young adults in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to gain real world work experience.
For 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, EducationWorks is hosting a FREE, VIRTUAL summer camp Monday through Friday, July 13 – August 21. EW will offer project-based learning and structured activities in S.T.E.A.M, Literacy, Math, Mindfulness, Art and more!

Education Leading to Employment and Career Training (ELECT) and EFI (ELECT Fatherhood Initiative) help teen parents stay in school, gain economic independence and raise healthy children. Programming provided year-round has several components, including, but not limited to the following: Vocational, careers and job readiness training; health care and nutrition education; academic tutoring, mentoring, and homework assistance; and child development and parenting skills.
Youth Courts is an alternative disciplinary program for students who break minor school rules. In trial-like proceedings, students serve as judges, juries and attorneys and impose restorative dispositions such as written letters of apology, or community service.
PowerCorpsPHL is a City of Philadelphia AmeriCorps initiative that operates in close partnership with EducationWorks. It is designed to support the City of Philadelphia’s environmental stewardship initiatives, youth violence prevention and workforce development priorities. PowerCorpsPHL annually enrolls 160 individuals, ages 18-26, in a 9-month program: 6 months of full-time service as AmeriCorps members with City departments followed by 3 months of intensive job placement support.
